Moonlight Dancer is a boss found in the Incursion Trial — a dedicated arena fight separate from the standard Gathering/Hunting Incursion routes. Unlike regular Incursion bosses, this one has an invincibility phase, and that’s the whole fight. The normal attacks are slow and manageable. First run I had no idea what was happening and got one-shot by the Crushing Darkness debuff. Second run, once the mechanic clicked, no problem. Gear the right level + understand the gimmick = win.
What Is Moonlight Dancer?
Moonlight Dancer is a boss that appears in the Moon Arena Incursion Trial. It doesn’t spawn through the normal Gathering/Hunting Incursion flow like Mother Slime, Night Swarm, or Spider Empress — you fight it in a dedicated arena that starts with a boss portal already placed. No mobs, no buildup.
In the Incursion boss order, you’ll tackle this after clearing standard Tier 5 Incursion bosses like Spider Empress.
Where other Incursion bosses are just big walls of HP, Moonlight Dancer uses an invincibility phase + instant-kill mechanic to create difficulty. Flip side: once you know the mechanic, the boss itself is straightforward.
How to Access Moon Arena
What’s a Trial Incursion?
The Incursion Trial is a separate format from the standard Gathering/Hunting Incursion. Instead of killing enemies to fill a gauge and spawn a boss, you go straight into a dedicated arena where the boss portal is already active. No clearing, no prep work.
Entering Moon Arena

Use a Moon Arena Tablet at the Fallen Altar. There’s no Gathering/Hunting route choice here — just the one “Trial” option. Walk in, hit the portal.

Confirmed spawn at Tier 5.
Pre-Fight Prep
Gear at Time of Kill
| Slot | My Gear | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Armor | Nightsteel armor (Tier 5) | 192 total defense |
| Weapons | Phantom Caller + Phantom Popper | Summoner + Ranged combo |
Same loadout I used for Spider Empress, no changes needed. Because the attacks are slow, understanding the invincibility phase matters more than raw gear level.
Arena Layout
Moon Arena is an open space — no pillars to break, no terrain to prep. Walk in and the boss portal is right there.
Stats
| Value | |
|---|---|
| HP (Classic, Tier 5) | 84,800 |
Slightly lower than Spider Empress (94,120 at Tier 4). The boss isn’t meant to be a health check — the invincibility phase gimmick is where the real difficulty lives.
Attack Patterns
Overview
Three standard attacks, then an invincibility phase once HP drops below a certain threshold. All three normal attacks are on the slow side — staying calm and repositioning handles most of them. The boss is almost entirely about surviving the invincibility phase.
Attack 1: Crescent Shot

Fires a large crescent-shaped projectile that tracks you. Slow velocity, but always one active on the field — when it disappears, the next one spawns. Cycle style.
How to dodge: Run laterally. It’s slow enough to outpace on foot. The danger is getting tagged from behind while you’re focused on other attacks — keep the crescent’s position in your peripheral.
Attack 2: Focused Burst

Fires a spread of projectiles in your direction. Each hit is mild, but getting clipped by multiple at once hurts.
How to dodge: Step sideways off the line of fire. Speed isn’t high, so staying mobile dodges most of the spread naturally.
Attack 3: Radial Barrage

Launches a dense burst of projectiles in all directions from the boss’s position. Close range gets dangerous fast.
How to dodge: Either thread the gaps between projectiles, or maintain distance so the spread widens enough to slip through. Hugging the boss during this one is a bad idea.
Attack 4: Invincibility Phase (Critical)

Once HP drops below a threshold, Moonlight Dancer goes fully invincible and applies the Crushing Darkness debuff — lethal damage over time.
How to survive:
1. When the phase triggers, protective shields [UNVERIFIED: 防護シールド] spawn around the arena
2. Collecting shields reduces the Crushing Darkness damage
3. Collect all of them to completely negate the debuff
4. The boss keeps attacking during collection — dodge while you pick them up
This isn’t a DPS check. It’s a mechanics check. Locate the shields fast, minimize hits while grabbing them, nullify the debuff. First run I died without knowing this existed. Second run it was fine.
Combat Summary
NORMAL PHASE Track the Crescent Shot position at all times Focused Burst and Radial Barrage → stay mobile, keep distance Attacks are slow — composed play handles everything
INVINCIBILITY PHASE Stop attacking, pivot to shield collection Grab all shields ASAP to negate Crushing Darkness Boss still attacks during this — keep dodging
THE ONE THING THAT MATTERS ① Know the invincibility mechanic before entering (not knowing = instant death) ② Collect shields fast ③ Keep the Crescent Shot in your awareness at all timesMy Clear Experience
Run 1: No Context → Death
Entered Moon Arena, triggered the boss portal. Normal attacks felt slow, crescent tracking was the only threat. Was casually chipping it down — then HP crossed the threshold and suddenly I was dying. Had no idea what Crushing Darkness was or that shields existed. Just died confused.
Run 2: Mechanics Known → Clear
Went back knowing the invincibility phase is the kill. Normal phase again: easy. When the phase triggered, I immediately pivoted to shield collection, grabbed all of them, Crushing Darkness zeroed out. Returned to the normal attack phase, same loop, boss down. Slow attacks plus gear check passed = zero drama once you understand the fight.
Drops
Elder Reward

Complete Tier 5+ Incursions and the Elder gives you a bonus reward.
| Item | Type | Effect | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wormhole Locket | Consumable | Permanently increases maximum accessory slots by 8 |
Permanent accessory slot expansion is one of the strongest upgrades in the game. This alone is reason enough to kill Moonlight Dancer.
Guaranteed Drop
| Item | Type | Notes | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gateway Tablet | Consumable | Entry tablet for the next Incursion tier |
Dusk Armor (Probability Drop)
Got one piece per kill across three runs — likely one guaranteed drop per clear.
| Item | Type | Stats | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dusk Helmet | Armor (Head) | 53 defense, Magic attack speed +15%, Summon attack speed +15% | |
| Dusk Chestplate | Armor (Body) | 70 defense, Magic crit chance +30%, Summon crit chance +30%, Max summon count +2 | |
| Dusk Boots | Armor (Feet) | 30 defense, Move speed +25%, Mana cost -15%, Dash cooldown -15% |
Set Bonus: +400 max mana, Modifies Magic and Summon attacks during nighttime
Dusk armor is Magic/Summoner-specific. Magic attack speed, summon crit, summon cap, nighttime damage boost — all locked to those two builds. The boots’ speed +25% and dash cooldown reduction are good regardless of build, but if you’re Melee or Ranged, other armor sets are better.
Also drops: Stabby Bush (summoner item)
After the Kill
1. Claim the Wormhole Locket from the Elder
+8 permanent accessory slots. Use it immediately so you don’t forget.
2. Farm the Full Dusk Set
One piece per run means minimum 3 clears for the full set. If you’re running Magic or Summoner, the set bonus is strong enough to prioritize immediately. The nighttime combat boost makes the grind worth it.
3. Push Higher Tiers
Once you’ve got gear sorted, revisit at higher Tiers. HP and damage scale up, but the invincibility phase mechanic stays the same — same play pattern, just faster.
FAQ
Q: Where does Moonlight Dancer spawn?
A: Moon Arena — an Incursion Trial accessed via Moon Arena Tablet at the Fallen Altar. Not a standard Gathering/Hunting Incursion. Boss portal is active from the start. Confirmed Tier 5 unlock.
Q: I keep dying to the invincibility phase
A: The Crushing Darkness debuff applies lethal damage over time the moment the phase triggers. Protective shields [UNVERIFIED: 防護シールド] spawn around the arena — collect all of them to completely negate the damage. Boss keeps attacking during collection, so stay mobile while you grab them. Once you know the mechanic, it’s manageable.
Q: Is Dusk armor worth it for Melee/Ranged?
A: Not really. The bonuses are Magic attack speed, Summon crit, summon count, and a nighttime combat buff — all specific to Magic/Summoner builds. The Dusk Boots’ speed +25% and dash cooldown reduction are build-agnostic and useful, but three pieces for just the boots isn’t efficient. If you’re Melee or Ranged, look elsewhere.
