This is a complete database of every accessory (trinket) you can equip in Necesse—over 100 items covering critical strikes, summon boosts, movement, mining, mana, and more. The right combination can completely define your build. This guide starts with how the trinket slot system works, then covers recommended loadouts by build type, followed by a full accessory list organized by category.
How Trinket Slots Work
Accessories go into dedicated “trinket slots,” separate from your armor. While equipped, their effects are always active.
- You start with 4 slots. All effects stack simultaneously.
- To unlock more slots, you need specific slot expansion items. These are one-time-use items dropped by certain bosses. Using one permanently increases your maximum trinket slot count (they’re “keys” that unlock the slot, not accessories themselves). By using each one in order, you can expand to a maximum of 8 slots.
| Slot Expansion Item | Slots After Use | Main Source |
|---|---|---|
| Empty Pendant | 5 | Void Wizard drop |
| Pirate Sheath | 6 | Pirate Captain drop |
| Wizard Socket | 7 | Fallen Wizard drop |
| Wormhole Locket | 8 | Elder (shop) / Tier 5 Incursion quest reward |
Here’s what it looks like. The left image shows the default 4 slots (empty), and the right shows the fully expanded 8 slots filled with accessories. More slots mean more effects stacking at once.

Ability Trinket Slot
Separate from the regular slots, there’s one Ability Trinket Slot. Accessories with active abilities—shields, dashes, blinks—use this slot to activate their ability via the Ability key. Some accessories like Fool’s Gambit and Jonas’ Gambit can only be placed in this slot (their effects are extremely powerful to compensate).
Trinkets Can Be Enchanted
Accessories can be enchanted at the Mage NPC. Since slots are limited, enchanting your core accessories gives you extra value. See the Enchanting Guide for details.
Health vs. Resilience (Which Accessories Boost What?)
Necesse has two similar-sounding defensive stats that are easy to mix up. Let’s clarify:
- Health: Your HP. You die when it hits 0. Accessories like Frozen Heart increase max health, while others boost health regeneration.
- Resilience: A secondary “shield gauge” that takes damage before your health. It regenerates automatically during combat when you stop taking hits. Accessories like Spirit Greaves boost resilience.
In short: Health = your last line of defense; Resilience = a regenerating front-line buffer. Melee builds that stay in the fight benefit from resilience regen, while builds that want to survive big hits focus on max health and recovery.
Recommended Loadouts by Build
Slots are limited, so the key is doubling down on your build’s strongest axis. Here are some solid combinations for each build type. (You won’t have all of these early on—swap in upgrades as you find them.)
Note: some accessories of the same type cancel each other out (e.g., only one Foci at a time; generally one pair of boots). The examples below avoid these conflicts so you can use them as-is. Adjust based on what you have.
Melee Build
- Goal: Stack crit chance + on-hit procs for damage, plus 1–2 survival slots for staying in the front line.
- Regular Slots:
Melee Foci — +20% melee damage / −20% non-melee damage
Lucky Cape — +10% crit chance
Frost Flame — Attacks inflict slowness and 35 frost damage over 5 seconds
Life Pendant — Increases health regeneration
Frozen Heart — +50 max health
- Ability Slot (pick one):
Parry Buckler — Perfect-block negates all damage and grants a brief damage boost
Shell of Retribution — Poisons attackers for 40 damage over 5 seconds (from Spider Charm)- Parry Buckler for defense, Shell of Retribution for counter-damage.
Ranged Build
- Goal: Conserve ammo for sustained DPS, boost projectile speed/penetration/crit for accuracy and burst.
- Regular Slots:
Range Foci — +20% ranged damage / −20% non-ranged damage
Ammo Box — 75% chance to save ammo
Magical Quiver — 75% chance to save arrows
Ancient Feather — +50% projectile speed
Bone Hilt — +20 armor penetration
Lucky Cape — +10% crit chance- Ammo Box is for guns, Magical Quiver for bows—use whichever matches your weapon.
- Ability Slot:
Blink Scepter — Blink forward on ability press- Use mobility to dodge instead of tanking.
Magic Build
- Goal: Secure enough max mana and mana regen to sustain casting, then layer on damage.
- Regular Slots:
Magic Foci — +20% magic damage / −20% non-magic damage
Spell Stone — +50% max mana
Nightmare Talisman — +250% mana regeneration
Forbidden Spellbook — +50% magic damage, but +100% mana cost- The Forbidden Spellbook’s mana penalty is offset by Spell Stone + Nightmare Talisman.
- Ability Slot:
Blink Scepter — Blink forward on ability press- Reposition instantly to avoid getting caught mid-cast.
Summoner Build
- Goal: Maximize summon count for more minions, then boost summon damage and speed.
- Regular Slots:
Summon Foci — +20% summon damage / −20% non-summon damage
Hysteria Tablet — +2 max summons / +30% summon speed
Scrying Mirror — +1 max summons
Companion Locket — Summon damage and speed scale up based on empty summon slots
Summoner’s Bestiary — +5% summon damage per unique summon type
- Hysteria Tablet is mutually exclusive with Mesmer Tablet + Inducing Amulet. If you don’t have it yet, use those two as replacements.
- Pairing with “non-summon-slot” weapons adds even more total damage output (Non-Summon-Slot Weapon Guide).
Mining, Building & Exploration
- Goal: Combine digging, building, and pickup range boosts, then add one movement slot for faster runs.
- Regular Slots:
Digging Claw — +50% tool damage / +50% mining speed / −2 mining range
Toolbox — Combines: Construction Hammer (faster building) + Telescopic Ladder (more build range) + Tool Extender (more mining range) + Item Attractor (more pickup range)
Miners Prosthetic — Mining also damages nearby rock walls- Add your favorite movement boots to round out the loadout.
- Pirate Telescope (map reveal) and light-giving accessories quietly help during exploration.
Non-Summon-Slot Weapons & Accessories
Summoner builds can use special weapons that don’t consume summon slots. Since they don’t eat into your summon capacity, they synergize perfectly with summon-boosting accessories for maximum total damage. See the Non-Summon-Slot Weapon Guide for details.
Full Accessory List (Effects & Sources Database)
Organized by effect category. Where upper/lower tiers exist within the same effect line, they’re sorted by sell price (a rough indicator of progression tier).
- Ability Trinkets (Active Abilities — 1 Slot) / Combat (Offense) / Summoner / Mana & Essence Orbs (Magic Builds) / Defense & Survival / Movement & Exploration / Mining, Building & Tools
Ability Trinkets (Active Abilities — 1 Slot)
These accessories have active abilities. Shields block on hold, boots/scepters/staffs dash or teleport.
Abilities only activate when placed in the dedicated Ability Trinket Slot (there’s only one). When the ability slot is empty, equipping an ability trinket automatically goes there—it can’t go in regular slots. When the ability slot is already occupied, you can place another ability trinket in a regular slot, but only the ability slot’s trinket activates its ability (remove it, and the regular-slot one takes over).
In practice, there’s no real benefit to putting an ability trinket in a regular slot. Think of it as one-slot-only. Note: Fool’s Gambit and Jonas’ Gambit are ability-slot exclusive and cannot go in regular slots at all.

Summary
Accessories are always-on equipment limited to 4–8 slots. Start by unlocking more slots with expansion items, then prioritize accessories that match your build’s core axis—melee crit, ranged ammo efficiency, magic mana, or summon count. Make the most of the Ability slot, and enchant your key accessories for maximum value.
