The Queen Spider is the second Tier 1 boss in Necesse, summoned in snow biome caves by destroying or using a Royal Egg. What makes her dangerous isn’t raw damage — it’s the wall-piercing charges combined with poison pools that shrink your safe space. Fighting her in a narrow cave without prep is a recipe for an instant wipe.
This guide covers how to get the Royal Egg, what gear to bring, all four attack phases, and every drop item you can get.
Quick Summary
| Location | Snow Biome (Underground) |
| Summon Item | Royal Egg — destroy one in a spider nest, or use one from inventory |
| Recommended Gear | Bloodplate armor, ranged weapon, healing potions |
| Watch Out For | Wall-piercing charge, egg spawning, venom spit, fast charge |
| Key Drops | Spider Heart, Cave Spider Gland, Frost Piercer |
What Is the Queen Spider?
She’s the second Tier 1 boss — the one right after Evil’s Protector in the Elder’s quest chain. The fight takes place underground in snow biome caves.
Her defining trait: she charges through walls. If you accidentally break a Royal Egg while swinging your sword in a narrow tunnel, she’ll phase through the cave wall and hit you before you can react. That’s why arena prep isn’t optional here — it’s the whole strategy.
On my first run, I went in with Gold armor and a spider summon build. Got her down to 34% HP, then got cornered by poison pools and baby spiders and died. Swapped to Bloodplate armor and finished her cleanly on the next attempt. That experience is what this guide is built on.
Defeating her drops the Spider Heart, which permanently increases your max HP by 50 — same as Evil’s Protector’s Demon Heart.
Summoning: How to Get the Royal Egg
You need a Royal Egg to summon the Queen Spider. Two ways to get one:

Method 1: Break an Egg in a Spider Nest (Risky)
Snow biome caves contain spider nest areas with glowing Royal Eggs sitting in the environment. Hit one and the Queen Spider spawns immediately — no warning, no countdown.
Important: The boss fight starts the moment the egg breaks. I once broke one mid-swing while exploring and got charged through a wall before I could do anything. If you’re in a spider nest area, stop swinging your weapon.
Also: breaking multiple eggs back-to-back spawns multiple Queen Spiders simultaneously. Don’t do that.
Method 2: Loot from Chests and Mobs (Recommended)
Snow biome chests and spider-type enemies drop Royal Eggs as loot. In one cave run I found one from a drop and one in a chest — they’re not rare. This method lets you choose when and where to use the egg, which is the safer play.
Using it from inventory summons the Queen Spider at your location — so make sure you’re inside a snow biome cave when you use it.
Summon Rules
- Snow biome caves only — doesn’t work on the surface or in other biomes
- No time limit — unlike Evil’s Protector, you don’t need to wait for night
- Use from inventory whenever you’re ready; no rush
Pre-Fight Preparation
Gear Checklist (What I Used for My First Clear)
| Slot | Item | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Armor | Bloodplate set (Defense 19) | Requires Demonic Anvil. Farm Evil’s Protector for Demonic Bars — 12 per kill |
| Weapon | Blood Volley (Magic Damage 22) | Ranged magic. Better than melee here because of the wall-pierce charges |
| Accessories | Magic Foci + Force of Wind | Magic Foci from Evil’s Protector drops; Force of Wind for dash dodges |
| Consumables | Healing Potions ×5+ | Use them — don’t save them |

For reference: Gold armor + spider summon got the boss to 34% HP, then I got overwhelmed. Bloodplate made the difference — noticeably less damage taken per hit. Farming Evil’s Protector 2–3 times to get the Demonic Bars is worth it.
How to Craft Bloodplate Armor
Kill Evil’s Protector and you get 12 Demonic Bars per run. Use those to craft a Demonic Anvil. The bat wings for the recipe drop from vampires in snow caves — you’ll have plenty just from hunting for Royal Eggs.

Build the Arena First (Non-Negotiable)
The Queen Spider phases through walls. In a tight tunnel, she’ll charge from the other side of the rock and you have zero reaction time. Add poison pools filling the ground and you’re dead before you figure out what happened.
What to do:
- Use a pickaxe to dig out a large open room — 30×30 tiles is enough (confirmed from my run)
- Place torches throughout to suppress mob spawning
- Have your Royal Egg in inventory and move to the arena
- Use the egg from the center of the arena
Stats
| HP (Classic) | 5,000 |
For comparison: Evil’s Protector has 3,000 HP on Classic. Queen Spider has 1.7x the HP but lower defense, so your damage goes through — the fight just takes longer, which means more opportunities for poison pools and baby spiders to get you.
Multiplayer scaling: +80% HP per additional player.
Attack Phases (4-Phase Rotation)
The Queen Spider doesn’t switch phases based on HP thresholds. She runs through all four attacks in a fixed rotation, repeating continuously. However, as her HP drops, everything gets faster — and she lays more eggs per cycle.
Phase 1: Straight Charge
What she does:
– Charges directly at you in a straight line
– Two variants: a normal charge and a faster, longer-range version
How to dodge:
Step sideways. The charge is linear, so a lateral strafe dodges it cleanly. The problem is the wall pierce — if your arena is too small or you’re near a wall, she can initiate from off-screen.
Force of Wind’s dash ability helps a lot here. Don’t bother trying to attack during this phase; just dodge.
Phase 2: Egg Laying
What she does:
– Stops moving and lays multiple eggs
– Eggs hatch quickly into baby spiders that rush the nearest player
How to handle it:
This is your main damage window. She’s stationary — pour damage in. Simultaneously, destroy the eggs before they hatch or kill the baby spiders the moment they emerge.
If you let them pile up, you’ll be swarmed. AoE weapons (boomerangs, etc.) help clear them fast. In late fight, she lays more eggs per phase, so baby spider management gets hectic.
Phase 3: Venom Spit
What she does:
– Stops and fires venom at the player
– Venom creates poison pools on impact that deal damage over time
How to handle it:
Another stationary phase = another damage window. The catch: those poison pools don’t disappear quickly, and they accumulate across the fight. If you let her push you into a corner, one side of your arena can become impassable.
Stay near center. That gives you room to maneuver as the pools build up.
Phase 4: Fast Charge (Enhanced)
What she does:
– Same as Phase 1, but faster and longer distance
– Speed and frequency increase as her HP drops
How to dodge:
Same lateral strafe as Phase 1, but tighter timing. Being anywhere near a wall when this triggers is dangerous. Stay in open space.
Full Rotation
Straight Charge → Egg Laying → Venom Spit → Fast Charge → repeat
(all phases speed up and intensify as HP drops)Damage windows are Phases 2 and 3 (stationary). Focus on dodging during Phases 1 and 4 and dump damage when she stops.
Drop Items
First-Kill Only
| Item | Effect | |
|---|---|---|
| Spider Heart | Permanently increases max HP by +50 |
Same effect as Evil’s Protector’s Demon Heart. Use it from your inventory as soon as you pick it up.
Every Kill
| Item | Quantity | |
|---|---|---|
| Cave Spider Gland | 10–20 |
Chance Drops (One Random Item)
| Item | Type | Notes | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spider Claw | Melee (Sword) | Fastest attack speed in the game. Extremely short range — high DPS if you can stay in melee | |
| Spider Charm | Accessory | Poisons attackers for 40 damage over 5 seconds when you take a hit | |
| Webbed Gun | Gun | Fires webs as projectiles | |
| Frost Piercer | Summon Weapon | Summons up to 8 homing ice crystals. Does not use a summon slot |
The Frost Piercer Is Worth Farming
Because it doesn’t consume a summon slot, you can equip it alongside your main summon weapon and get free extra damage. It stays useful into the next boss tier. If it doesn’t drop, collect more Royal Eggs and run it again.
Elder Reward
Report back to the Elder after your first kill and you get the Ammo Pouch.

| Item | Effect | |
|---|---|---|
| Ammo Pouch | Dedicated ammo storage — ammo is drawn from the pouch first, keeps inventory clean |
After the Fight
1. Use the Spider Heart
Open your inventory and use the Spider Heart. Max HP +50, permanently. Don’t leave it sitting in your bag.
2. Collect the Ammo Pouch from the Elder
Head back to your settlement and talk to the Elder. Bow and gun builds especially benefit from the extra ammo storage.
3. Evaluate Your Drops
Got a Frost Piercer? Slot it immediately for summon builds — it carries into later fights. Got a Spider Claw? Worth testing if you run melee. Didn’t get what you wanted? Farm more Royal Eggs and run it again.
4. Move to the Next Boss
One more Tier 1 boss left.
| Next Boss | Location |
|---|---|
| Void Wizard | Bottom floor of the Dungeon Island |
Beat all three Tier 1 bosses to unlock Tier 2 biome bosses.
FAQ
Q: Where do I find the Snow Biome?
Check the world map — biomes are visible. Sail to a snow biome island. Distance is random per world.
Q: I accidentally broke an egg without a prepared arena. Now what?
Honestly, unless you get lucky, you’re probably dead. The wall pierce plus no room to maneuver is brutal. Die, recover your gear, dig the arena, try again.
Q: Can I use the Royal Egg on the surface?
No — must be used inside a snow biome cave. Dig your arena there, then use it.
Q: Does the Queen Spider drop a Queen Spider Head?
No — at least not in Necesse v1.0 based on my runs. The main drops are the Spider Heart (first kill), Cave Spider Gland (every kill), and the random chance drops (Spider Claw / Spider Charm / Webbed Gun / Frost Piercer).
Q: What are Cave Spider Glands used for?
They’re crafting materials for spider-tier equipment and related items. The Queen Spider drops 10–20 per kill, so you’ll accumulate plenty from farming.
Summary
- Get a Royal Egg from snow cave chests, mob drops, or by finding one in a spider nest (destroy at your own risk)
- Summoning requires being inside a snow biome cave — no time limit
- Dig a 30×30 arena before summoning — wall-piercing charges in a narrow tunnel are lethal
- Bloodplate armor dramatically reduces incoming damage; farm Evil’s Protector 2–3 times for the Demonic Bars
- Four-phase rotation — deal damage during egg laying and venom spit (stationary phases), dodge during charges
- Kill baby spiders immediately — don’t let them pile up
- Frost Piercer doesn’t consume a summon slot and is worth farming if it doesn’t drop first try
